Saltwater Fishing Lures

(322 products)

CharkBait stocks a wide range of saltwater lures for Southern California fishing, and a lot of it is hard to find anywhere else. It starts with West Coast iron: surface and yo-yo jigs are part of the fishing culture here, a style older than the companies that perfected it, and Tady and Salas have poured the standards for 70 years. From there it opens up to knife jigs for the nighttime bluefin bite, slow-pitch jigging with the rods and terminal to match, casting jigs, swimbaits, sinking and floating stickbaits, poppers, and a full trolling spread, with brands like Nomad Design, Yo-Zuri, Big Hammer, Oceans Legacy, and Mirrolure. We stock what we sell and fish it ourselves. Use the links below to shop by style.

Which lure for which bite?

Southern California gives you more ways to catch a fish than just about anywhere, and the lure rack reflects it. Here is the quick map; the categories below sort it by how you fish.

Surface iron and yo-yo jigs. The West Coast classics, and the heart of fishing out here. The style is older than the companies that perfected it, and Tady and Salas have poured the SoCal standards for 70 years: thrown on top for yellowtail, calico, and tuna, or worked fast on the yo-yo down deep. These are the jigs in every long-range angler's box, and we stock both deep.

Knife jigs and speed jigging. We carry knife jigs for tuna, built to get down and get bit in the dark on the nighttime bluefin bite, plus traditional speed-jigging lures from brands like Nature Boys, Sea Falcon, and others.

Slow-pitch jigging. Slow pitch is its own discipline, and we fish it. Beyond the jigs, we carry and can set you up with the whole system the style takes: the dedicated rods, the lighter braid and leader, and the assist hooks and terminal that make it work. It is a specific way to fish, so ask us and we will point you to the right gear.

Casting jigs and lures. Metal jigs, sinking minnows, and a range of casting styles for busting fish and covering water, from GT ice cream jigs to wahoo bombs from Catchy Tackle and Captain Jimmy, and plenty more.

Swimbaits. Soft and hard swimbaits for calico, sand bass, and spotted bay bass (spotties) inshore, and for the offshore grade.

Stickbaits and poppers. Sinking and floating stickbaits for tuna and yellowtail, and poppers for topwater yellowfin and bluefin when they are up and boiling.

Trolling. A full trolling selection for the offshore spread: cedar plugs, tuna feathers, daisy chains, lipped divers, and planing-head lures, plus high-speed trolling lures made to take a wahoo at speed.

Tungsten jigs. Denser and smaller than lead for their weight, and hard to find at most shops. See the tungsten jigs collection for the full selection.
