Do you offer free shipping?
We offer free domestic shipping on most orders over $150 subtotal. This excludes oversized and bulky items such as rods, blanks, gaffs, some tackle boxes, lobster nets, landing nets and other large items. Any 1 piece rod over 7'10" in length often incurs the biggest oversize fees charged by domestic shipping companies although we do have lower rates via other carriers on the West Coast. Any additional shipping fees will be automatically calculated at checkout before any billing is done.
What countries do you ship to?
We currently ship products within the US and to almost every country in the world, covering all available destination via UPS and DHL. International shipping times depend on the products and destination. Shipping rates are automatically calculated at checkout, for most countries we also collect Duties and Taxes and prepay them so you do not have to deal with the carrier or customs.
How long will it take to get my order?
Standard shipping can take 3-8 business days depending on location and order volume. If you have requested spooling on your reel or rigging on your lures then it could take an additional day or two. Next day & 2 day shipping is available on most domestic orders (for an additional charge). Orders placed after 12pm Pacific Standard Time will be processed the next business day.
What carriers do you ship with?
We work with UPS, FedEx, US Postal Service, GLS and DHL. When your order qualifies for free shipping or has a rod that qualifies for discounted shipping we reserve the right to choose which carrier it is sent with, otherwise you can pick the service you want. UPS Ground ranges from 1 to 7 day delivery, USPS Priority Mail is typically 1-3 days but is not a guaranteed express service, and USPS Ground Advantage takes roughly 3-7 business days. Longer rods are generally sent via GLS unless otherwise specified, this service ranges from 1 - 10 days.

A few years ago Okuma ended up making a special model of 15TII SEa's in a gold color since it has been probably the most popular all around size for many different styles of fishing across the country. Okuma now wants to keep their lineup consistent with the SEa colors so they made us a deal we couldn't refuse on the rest of the stock they had and we are passing along the great deal to you. You will not find a sub $400 reel that is better in quality for heavy duty offshore fishing.
The 15T size is great all around, it will hold over 500 yards of 60lb braid with a short leader or you can even bump up to 80lb for heavy bottom fishing and still get 400 yards of capacity. These reels have open bearings so they will freespool well for casting and enough drag to fish up to 80lb comfortably. The gear ratios are very suited for chasing bigger species as with all of the Makaira's and these reels even come with optional harness lugs despite the small size.
For our local fishing this would be a great daytime bluefin reel but will also serve well for fishing dropper loop or sinker rig setups for big yellowtail or white seabass. This reel is especially good for fishing live bait even up to the heavier 60-80lb test.

Initially the price is what got my attention, I ordered one and when I received it I noticed it's almost the size of my Avet HXJ raptor which is one of my favorite overall big yellowtail/ Tuna fishing reels when using jigs of live bait. I started playing around with the 15T reel and noticed it has a super ultra smooth free spool and quality of the build/machining is outstanding, so I literally ordered another one, that's how impressed I was. Highly recommend this reel if you typically go after larger fish and use 80lb braid with a short leader.

I love my new Makaira 50W. I have used Makaira in the past many times and finally ordered my own. This was my first time ordering from Charkbait and cannot epxress how impressed I am with their level of service. Always a fan of Okuma, these are big reels in a compact package. This reel given its size and drag can also double as a stand up reel for big East Coast BFT.
