Our commitment
CharkBait is committed to making charkbait.com usable by as many people as possible, including customers who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology. We want every angler to be able to research gear, compare products, and place an order on our site, by phone, or in our Huntington Beach store.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. charkbait.com is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. The known exceptions are listed under Known limitations below.
What we have done
Accessibility is part of how we build and maintain the site, not a one-time project. Measures we have taken include:
- A full-site accessibility review in August 2026 against WCAG 2.2 Levels A and AA, covering every page type on the site: home, collections, product pages, search, cart, checkout entry, account pages, and all policy pages. The review combined automated testing with manual keyboard testing and screen reader testing.
- Screen reader testing of the core shopping tasks (searching, filtering a collection, choosing product options, adding to cart, and reading customer reviews) using NVDA on Windows, with follow-up test passes after each round of fixes.
- Fixes made directly in our storefront theme so that product option choices and their availability are announced, search and filter results are announced when they update, the site can be operated fully by keyboard with a visible focus indicator, product image zoom works from the keyboard, moving content pauses on focus and respects the reduced-motion setting, and text and interface colors meet contrast requirements.
- Descriptive text alternatives for product images, including per-color images on reels, with ongoing work across older product pages.
- Product specification tables rebuilt with proper headers so screen readers can read them row by row.
- Customer review photos named for screen readers by the review they belong to.
- A skip-to-content link at the top of every page, and internal links that open in the same tab.
- Re-testing after every significant storefront change, and periodic full reviews.
Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some parts of charkbait.com may not yet be fully accessible. We are aware of the following:
- Customer reviews are displayed by a third-party review service. A small number of issues inside that widget have been reported to the vendor and are pending their fix. Photos that customers upload with their reviews are identified by the review they belong to, but we cannot describe what each photo shows.
Third-party content and services
Parts of the site are provided by third parties whose code we do not fully control. These include the customer review service, the product option selector used on some reels for line and spooling choices, the Shopify checkout, and the reCAPTCHA protection on forms. Where we can, we adjust and test these services ourselves, and we report issues to the vendors and follow up on them. If any of these components gives you difficulty, please contact us and we will complete your purchase or request another way.

You can also place an order or get product help by phone if any part of the website is difficult to use. You do not need to tell us about your disability or provide personal information to ask for help. Anything you do share is handled under our Privacy Policy.
Compatibility
charkbait.com is designed to work with current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, on desktop and mobile. We test with the NVDA screen reader on Windows. The site relies on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA, and is built to work with the accessibility settings in your browser and operating system, such as zoom, high contrast, and reduced motion.
Assessment approach
We assess accessibility through our own reviews using automated testing tools, manual keyboard testing, and screen reader testing, and through feedback from our customers. This statement was last reviewed on September 16, 2026. We review it at least once a year and whenever the site changes significantly.
