Do you offer free shipping?
We offer free domestic shipping on most orders over $150 subtotal. This excludes oversized and bulky items such as rods, blanks, gaffs, some tackle boxes, lobster nets, landing nets and other large items. Any 1 piece rod over 7'10" in length often incurs the biggest oversize fees charged by domestic shipping companies although we do have lower rates via other carriers on the West Coast. Any additional shipping fees will be automatically calculated at checkout before any billing is done.
What countries do you ship to?
We currently ship products within the US and to almost every country in the world, covering all available destination via UPS and DHL. International shipping times depend on the products and destination. Shipping rates are automatically calculated at checkout, for most countries we also collect Duties and Taxes and prepay them so you do not have to deal with the carrier or customs.
How long will it take to get my order?
Standard shipping can take 3-8 business days depending on location and order volume. If you have requested spooling on your reel or rigging on your lures then it could take an additional day or two. Next day & 2 day shipping is available on most domestic orders (for an additional charge). Orders placed after 12pm Pacific Standard Time will be processed the next business day.
What carriers do you ship with?
We work with UPS, FedEx, US Postal Service, GLS and DHL. When your order qualifies for free shipping or has a rod that qualifies for discounted shipping we reserve the right to choose which carrier it is sent with, otherwise you can pick the service you want. UPS Ground ranges from 1 to 7 day delivery, USPS Priority Mail is typically 1-3 days but is not a guaranteed express service, and USPS Ground Advantage takes roughly 3-7 business days. Longer rods are generally sent via GLS unless otherwise specified, this service ranges from 1 - 10 days.

This year's limited edition Makaira color is Mahi Mahi, with a fade from green to gold along with blue spots these reels stand out well just like the last limited color blue camo. These version feature the upgrade handle knob that you find on the LBS edition, it's a bit smoother and more refined. Along with that you also get the new louder and more durable clicker design which is a welcome addition.
If you're not already familiar with the Makaira reels they are one of the best big game reels on the market. They have low gear ratios, heavy duty frames, plenty of drag and a 5 year warranty to back them up. Unlike other reels the drag pulls away from the spool to apply pressure so you get no handle bind and no reduced freespool when fishing heavy drag, on top of that they even have a thrust bearing for smoothness under load.
The SEa or special edition models all have open bearings and lighter frames than the standard Gold, so you get better freespool and a more modern frame design with no top crossbar on the 30 size.

Initially the price is what got my attention, I ordered one and when I received it I noticed it's almost the size of my Avet HXJ raptor which is one of my favorite overall big yellowtail/ Tuna fishing reels when using jigs of live bait. I started playing around with the 15T reel and noticed it has a super ultra smooth free spool and quality of the build/machining is outstanding, so I literally ordered another one, that's how impressed I was. Highly recommend this reel if you typically go after larger fish and use 80lb braid with a short leader.

I love my new Makaira 50W. I have used Makaira in the past many times and finally ordered my own. This was my first time ordering from Charkbait and cannot epxress how impressed I am with their level of service. They made sure my order was fulfilled exactly the way I wanted the reel set set up and were efficient. Charkbait will be the first place I look when I need fishing gear.

Always a fan of Okuma, these are big reels in a compact package. This reel given its size and drag can also double as a stand up reel for big East Coast BFT.
