Do you offer free shipping?
We offer free domestic shipping on most orders over $150 subtotal. This excludes oversized and bulky items such as rods, blanks, gaffs, some tackle boxes, lobster nets, landing nets and other large items. Any 1 piece rod over 7'10" in length often incurs the biggest oversize fees charged by domestic shipping companies although we do have lower rates via other carriers on the West Coast. Any additional shipping fees will be automatically calculated at checkout before any billing is done.
What countries do you ship to?
We currently ship products within the US and to almost every country in the world, covering all available destination via UPS and DHL. International shipping times depend on the products and destination. Shipping rates are automatically calculated at checkout, for most countries we also collect Duties and Taxes and prepay them so you do not have to deal with the carrier or customs.
How long will it take to get my order?
Standard shipping can take 3-8 business days depending on location and order volume. If you have requested spooling on your reel or rigging on your lures then it could take an additional day or two. Next day & 2 day shipping is available on most domestic orders (for an additional charge). Orders placed after 12pm Pacific Standard Time will be processed the next business day.
What carriers do you ship with?
We work with UPS, FedEx, US Postal Service, GLS and DHL. When your order qualifies for free shipping or has a rod that qualifies for discounted shipping we reserve the right to choose which carrier it is sent with, otherwise you can pick the service you want. UPS Ground ranges from 1 to 7 day delivery, USPS Priority Mail is typically 1-3 days but is not a guaranteed express service, and USPS Ground Advantage takes roughly 3-7 business days. Longer rods are generally sent via GLS unless otherwise specified, this service ranges from 1 - 10 days.

Avet's done it again, set the bar a bit higher for other manufacturers and created a must-have reel for serious anglers. The new HX or Hoo-X as we affectionately call 'em is one of the more versatile reels you'll come across. It's a compact true 4/0 size similar to a Penn Baja Special, but a bit lighter in weight. Like all Avet reels, it's a lever drag that spins and casts superbly. Huge carbon fiber drag, ergonomic handle, and 8 ball bearings in total. It's rather tall, so you'll bring in a good amount of line per crank, and the gearing is very well thought out. The two-speeds run 5.4:1 and 2.4:1 across the narrow J, standard and wide HX — step up to a standard-width or wide Raptor and the low gear drops to 1.9:1 for extra cranking power, while the narrow HXJ Raptor keeps the 2.4:1. You've got speed for attracting a bite from a wahoo, but great cranking power for dealing with tuna and even marlin. They'll be great sailfish reels, too. The stylish lugs can also be reversed (lugs/plugs) for situations when having an attachment point is unimportant. You do have options. This is another Avet reel that really has no equal, and fills so many applications that it really will become a must have piece. Let's talk a bit about the drag. Avet rates it at 22 lb at strike and 28 lb full, and it still offers GREAT freespool performance for casting. We've tested them, they perform as stated. The reels will most commonly be used for fishing 50-60# lines.
This is the MC version, with Avet's magnetic cast control. If you are new to fishing a conventional reel in saltwater, or you fish mostly braid to a shorter leader, that is the one to buy — the magnet does the most work early in the cast, when the spool is most likely to over-run, and it does not cost you distance.
Extended use report...since I bought one too, the HX is one of the most versatile big game reels made today. It will take wahoo, larger grade tuna, marlin, pretty much anything that it's line capacity allows. The drag is there, casting performance is very good, and it's not too big to handle comfortably. Like the JX, the HX begs to be used, and it will be used often by any fisherman lucky enough to own one.

Bought it for my son who is getting into slide bait fishing for GT. I am a lifetime fisherman who owns a number of 2 speed Avet 50 wides for fishing pelagics as well as numerous high end spinning reels for topwater and jigging. I have to say that this little Avet HX 5/2 really surprised me out of the box. Beautiful craftsmanship from Avet. Light, but powerful. Strong, smooth drag and the magnetic cast function really helped my son master long casts without worrying about bird nesting his line. He has yet to put a fish on it, but I'm confident it will hold up well and that the2 speed gearing will be a major help in landing bigger fish. Charkbait is always the best.
