Delivery & Shipping

Do you offer free shipping?

We offer free domestic shipping on most orders over $150 subtotal. This excludes oversized and bulky items such as rods, blanks, gaffs, some tackle boxes, lobster nets, landing nets and other large items. Any 1 piece rod over 7'10" in length often incurs the biggest oversize fees charged by domestic shipping companies although we do have lower rates via other carriers on the West Coast. Any additional shipping fees will be automatically calculated at checkout before any billing is done.

What countries do you ship to?

We currently ship products within the US and to almost every country in the world, covering all available destination via UPS and DHL. International shipping times depend on the products and destination. Shipping rates are automatically calculated at checkout, for most countries we also collect Duties and Taxes and prepay them so you do not have to deal with the carrier or customs.

How long will it take to get my order?

Standard shipping can take 3-8 business days depending on location and order volume. If you have requested spooling on your reel or rigging on your lures then it could take an additional day or two. Next day & 2 day shipping is available on most domestic orders (for an additional charge). Orders placed after 12pm Pacific Standard Time will be processed the next business day.

What carriers do you ship with?

We work with UPS, FedEx, US Postal Service, GLS and DHL. When your order qualifies for free shipping or has a rod that qualifies for discounted shipping we reserve the right to choose which carrier it is sent with, otherwise you can pick the service you want. UPS Ground ranges from 1 to 7 day delivery, USPS Priority Mail is typically 1-3 days but is not a guaranteed express service, and USPS Ground Advantage takes roughly 3-7 business days. Longer rods are generally sent via GLS unless otherwise specified, this service ranges from 1 - 10 days.

Prop 65 Warning ⚠

These are the original GUSA designs, dual helix carbon fiber construction – no ‘glass in the mix. High quality graphite is used in these rods, like the rest of the UC lineup, but more of it and no fiberglass used for these classics. Hoop strength is created through the dual helix build, so no compression of the blank when under load and far greater durability than ever thought possible on a graphite rod – stronger than fiberglass. These are light for their rating verses other rods, and they are incredibly strong. These are the rods that built GUSA’s reputation for strength and lightness. In the fall of 2016 United Composites added this series to their factory wrapped mix as a new series of rods to complement the Challenger Elite, Swimbait Finatic and Challenger Platinum series rods. As of this writing there are now 13 different models, old time favorites being produced and some new ones, too. This series will expand to include additional models as time progresses, but what’s offered now are the one’s folks have asked to have produced first (Randy will make the 70H I’ve requested in time…dang, that’s one of the nicest 30# sticks I ever fished). The rods are beautifully finished, ALPS dual lockdown seats, metal gimbals, and metallic blue wraps. Very nice rods, exceptional is a better way to put it.

GUSA or US Series – The original GUSA series designed rods, DUAL HELIX build, no fiberglass. A bit faster in action than the Challenger Elite series. The GUSA series rods include some old and new favorites like the Tilefish, Predator, Monster, etc. In basic terms, the US series offers four carbon patterns in the build, dual helix times two for a four ply rod. The carbon fiber used to build the GUSA series rods is twice the strength (almost double the GSM – grams per square inch) of the carbon used on other rods like Seeker and Calstar – nearly double the amount of carbon fiber in the material used. That provides much faster recoil than a Grafighter, energy is loaded up and released faster, and the rods are stronger with far greater hoop strength (which is the weak point on any rod under compression or a load). Much like Calstar’s design progressed rod performance beyond fiberglass in the late 1990’s, so too does the manner in which UC’s rods are built and the material used in their production significantly improves performance for fishermen today. These are wonderful rods to own and fish for decades to come. In my own collection, the CP series and the GUSA series are very well represented, and my favorites to fish. One pull and you’ll understand why, one good fish on the other end and you’ll probably find good reason to replace a few of your previous favorite rods, they really are that good.

Arrived in great condition

I live in Southern CA and the rod was shipped out and delivered to me the next day. Came packaged in a cardboard tube with lots of bubble wrap. No flaws seen. Rod itself feels great, alps seat is a little heavy, but very comfortable. Paired up with a Talica 10 for the ultimate #30 set up. Can’t wait to pull on some tuna later this month.
