SOL Face Guard SPF 30 Sunscreen Stick

I have to be very careful when being outside in the sun. I had (cancerous) melanoma form from a mole on my right foot that took too much UV damage over time because I was (frankly) too stupid to apply sunscreen to the area during my outings. I BARELY caught it in time. These moles are measured in millimeters to give you a rough gauge of whether the cancer may be spreading or not. When a mole reaches a depth of .9 millimeters, it is still technically considered a "thin" melanoma (which tend to be very treatable), but it has reached a point that the mole may be reaching the veins and may spread the cancer through them to other places in the body. Mine measured in at .9 mm when I had it removed and had a skin graft to cover the area, and I now visit the dermatologist once every six months to strip down and have a full body inspection completed to monitor for potential new cancers. Fun times.

Because of this, I now take my sunscreen applications very, very seriously. I have only found one brand of Neutrogena sunscreen (Sport Face) that doesn't burn the skin on my face, and works amazing. However, it burns my eyes significantly when it runs down into them, and it does come off when you're sweating heavily like you do here in the Florida sun, albeit it doesn't come off easily; I typically apply it 2-3 separate times during a full sun-up to sun-down day. I carry a Ryobi battery powered fan with me out onto the pier or a battery powered waist fan if I'm elsewhere, and I have to blast my face with it in order to get the sunscreen to dry during applications. And putting on all of this extra sunscreen and all of these extra chemicals makes me feel just as uneasy in its own way.

This SOL sunscreen stick works great as a replacement. It really does, but you have to understand that - in my fair skinned experiences - it takes a generous amount every application, and you will need to reapply possibly even twice as much as you have to with normal sunscreen. When I used it the first time, I applied it at least three separate times that day, and it provided great UV protection without running into my eyes and burning them, and it didn't make me feel as though I practically showered in greasy chemicals. The stick also goes a very, very long way and will last a long time. I grew some confidence in it by doing so and unfortunately overestimated it. So on the next trip, I only applied it twice, and I didn't apply enough the second application. I ended up with a very fair sunburn on my face, and I haven't experienced one to that degree it at least 2-3 years.

This is your health and quality of life that we're talking about, everyone. Purchasing a product like this is worth the money and effort. I also bought their 30 SPF lip balm, and it works great, too. Just remember to use the product and to apply it generously (as they explain on the instructions) to experience its benefits. The healthier you are, the more time you get to spend on the water.
