The new 5G series of Giant Killing SPJ rods is an extremely impressive leap forward in technology and performance. These are the lightest SPJ rods I’ve personally encountered even compared to the $600-700 Daiwa Saltiga, Beat Propagate, Deepliner Logical and Evergreen Poseidon which are the most well regarded rods in the industry. The Power 0 starts out at 93 grams and the heaviest Power 4 rated up to 350g jigs is only 111g which is less than 4 ounces. These rods use the highest end Toray intermediate modulus graphite available, T1100G, which has enough give to make a soft and parabolic rod without going into high modulus graphite which is more fragile and more importantly too stiff for this application.
All of the models have a conventional guide layout which 11 guides total starting the the Fuji LKW which is the best stainless double foot guides available for this application. They use an ergonomic Fuji PULS reel seat which in my mind is infinitely better than the T-DPS seats you see in 95% of SPJ rods, it is more sensitive and feels more solid in the hand. The rods come with a soft cover for carrying them around and start out at a very competitive price considering they tout some of the better features of the rods in the $500+ range.
