Delivery & Shipping

Do you offer free shipping?

We offer free domestic shipping on most orders over $150 subtotal. This excludes oversized and bulky items such as rods, blanks, gaffs, some tackle boxes, lobster nets, landing nets and other large items. Any 1 piece rod over 7'10" in length often incurs the biggest oversize fees charged by domestic shipping companies although we do have lower rates via other carriers on the West Coast. Any additional shipping fees will be automatically calculated at checkout before any billing is done.

What countries do you ship to?

We currently ship products within the US and to almost every country in the world, covering all available destination via UPS and DHL. International shipping times depend on the products and destination. Shipping rates are automatically calculated at checkout, for most countries we also collect Duties and Taxes and prepay them so you do not have to deal with the carrier or customs.

How long will it take to get my order?

Standard shipping can take 3-8 business days depending on location and order volume. If you have requested spooling on your reel or rigging on your lures then it could take an additional day or two. Next day & 2 day shipping is available on most domestic orders (for an additional charge). Orders placed after 12pm Pacific Standard Time will be processed the next business day.

What carriers do you ship with?

We work with UPS, FedEx, US Postal Service, GLS and DHL. When your order qualifies for free shipping or has a rod that qualifies for discounted shipping we reserve the right to choose which carrier it is sent with, otherwise you can pick the service you want. UPS Ground ranges from 1 to 7 day delivery, USPS Priority Mail is typically 1-3 days but is not a guaranteed express service, and USPS Ground Advantage takes roughly 3-7 business days. Longer rods are generally sent via GLS unless otherwise specified, this service ranges from 1 - 10 days.

Prop 65 Warning ⚠

The BG built its name as the aluminum-bodied saltwater spinner you buy when you want to stop worrying about the reel. The 2026 BG SW takes that further than any BG before it: a full aluminum frame and body cover now sealed with a dedicated waterproof gasket, and Daiwa's POWERDRIVE DESIGN — the big-spinner architecture from the top of their range — brought down into a reel that starts at $199.99.

POWERDRIVE DESIGN

The POWERDRIVE ROTOR is a DS4 composite unit built on a spherical form — symmetrical around the rotation axis, so it stays rigid under load instead of flexing at the line roller when you have the drag buttoned down. Driving it is the OVERSIZED POWER DIGIGEAR: a larger-diameter, thicker-faced evolution of Tough Digigear with an optimized tooth profile, which keeps the gears meshing cleanly through a long fight instead of deflecting under sustained load. The CRANK POWER BAIL uses a cranked wire profile and a strengthened spring to feed a loaded line positively onto the roller and resist unintended closing. All of it hangs on a full aluminum body that transmits what you put into the handle rather than absorbing it.

Sealing, drag and handling

A new waterproof gasket sits between the body and the body cover, which is what keeps a reel feeling new in year three instead of getting crunchy. Daiwa also went stopperless — deleting the anti-reverse switch removes one of the classic water and grit entry points. The drag is ATD TOUGH running carbon washers: it starts moving without a sticky first inch and holds sustained pressure smoothly, which is the whole game on a long, heavy fish.

Two handling details worth knowing. The bail is manual return — it will not snap closed when you turn the handle, so it can't flip mid-cast and pop your line. And the HG round egg knob is a genuinely better shape to pull on with a wet hand (S size on the 5000–6000, L on the 8000 and up).

Spool and line

The spool is gasket-lined and braid-ready — tie straight to the arbor, no mono backing, no slipping band of tape. The lip is Daiwa's LC-ABS SW, a two-stage taper into the spool ring that cuts friction on the way out; Daiwa's own comparison testing puts it at roughly 2% more distance with heavy line, where the spool diameter changes most through a cast. The 5000 and 6000 also carry the Perfect Line Stopper, which clips line from above or below and handles everything from thin to heavy.

Choosing a size

  • BGSW5000-H — surf iron and light shore jigging, bonito and barracuda, schoolie yellowtail.
  • BGSW6000-H — the all-round shore/offshore size: heavier surface iron, light offshore jigging and casting.
  • BGSW8000-H — where it turns into a real offshore reel: yellowtail on the jig, mid-weight casting.
  • BGSW10000-H — yellowtail and smaller bluefin, poppers and stickbaits.
  • BGSW14000-H — serious casting size for big yellowtail and tuna; same body weight class as the 10000 with more line.
  • BGSW18000 — heavy-duty, with lower 5.3:1 gearing: big bluefin, GT, long-range casting.
  • BGSW20000 — the most line in the range and the fastest pickup at 54" per crank.
