Delivery & Shipping

Do you offer free shipping?

We offer free domestic shipping on most orders over $150 subtotal. This excludes oversized and bulky items such as rods, blanks, gaffs, some tackle boxes, lobster nets, landing nets and other large items. Any 1 piece rod over 7'10" in length often incurs the biggest oversize fees charged by domestic shipping companies although we do have lower rates via other carriers on the West Coast. Any additional shipping fees will be automatically calculated at checkout before any billing is done.

What countries do you ship to?

We currently ship products within the US and to almost every country in the world, covering all available destination via UPS and DHL. International shipping times depend on the products and destination. Shipping rates are automatically calculated at checkout, for most countries we also collect Duties and Taxes and prepay them so you do not have to deal with the carrier or customs.

How long will it take to get my order?

Standard shipping can take 3-8 business days depending on location and order volume. If you have requested spooling on your reel or rigging on your lures then it could take an additional day or two. Next day & 2 day shipping is available on most domestic orders (for an additional charge). Orders placed after 12pm Pacific Standard Time will be processed the next business day.

What carriers do you ship with?

We work with UPS, FedEx, US Postal Service, GLS and DHL. When your order qualifies for free shipping or has a rod that qualifies for discounted shipping we reserve the right to choose which carrier it is sent with, otherwise you can pick the service you want. UPS Ground ranges from 1 to 7 day delivery, USPS Priority Mail is typically 1-3 days but is not a guaranteed express service, and USPS Ground Advantage takes roughly 3-7 business days. Longer rods are generally sent via GLS unless otherwise specified, this service ranges from 1 - 10 days.

Prop 65 Warning ⚠

The new Tesoro spinning reels are a continuation of well priced reels with high end features coming from Okuma. I've had my 18000 since ICAST 2022 and have enjoyed it a lot when casting for yellowfin, bluefin and yellowtail. While it's overkill for 60-80lb yellowfin, the smaller sizes reflect the same quality and design and the larger sizes are plenty for a much bigger grade of fish. The main selling point I've noticed is the handle feel under load, with a dual ball bearing supported pinion you don't feel nearly as much tension in the handle. The spool shaft is titanium which is pretty remarkable considering it's a feature you don't see on reels until you get into the $500+ Van Staals, and it should wear better than other materials since it has a lower coefficient of friction. They've also improved the sealing of the reel body getting it up to an IPX7 certification.

Unlike a lot of the reels it competes with it has a brass main and pinion gear which adds some durability and once well bedded should continue to stay smooth. It doesn't quite have the buttery smooth feel of a $600 Daiwa but for the price difference it is damn close. It has ridiculous drag numbers as with most spinning reels these days, but also features both top and bottom drag washers which improves smoothness and heat dissipation. It has a loud drag clicker which is really important for timing the fight.

A small feature most people won't notice is the DLC coated line roller, it's one of if not the hardest finishes you can get on metal and has very low friction which makes a huge difference when line is running on it compared to conventional titanium nitride. I just hope to see the same coating applied to a spool rim in the future. The handle knobs are made with forged carbon fiber which feels nice and looks cool but not the main selling point, they're also a bit bigger than the ball knobs from the competitors which makes them that much more comfortable.

These are one of the few reels Okuma sells in the Japanese market and they've been a good alternative to the status quo, seeing success both with the jigging and casting market as saltwater fishing continues to grow while on the verge of overtaking the bass market in Japan.

Solid reel after a good test run

I am an avid topwater GT fisherman here in Hawaii. I have used high end reels from all the big brands. A couple years ago I bought an Okuma Makaira 10K from Charkbait and it has become my go-to spinning reel for targeting big GT's. Solid reel with amazing cranking power due to it's lower gear ratio. But the lower gear ratio also makes it harder to work stick baits and high speed jigs, so I've been using a Twin Power for those purposes. When I read about Okuma's new Tesoro and looked at the specs, I had to give it a try. I bought a Tesoro 10K from Charkbait and took it for a weeklong fishing expedition on the Great Barrier Reef. It was 6 days straight of nonstop fishing. I put the Tesoro to the test on 50lb+ GTs and every other predator that's out there, from Napolean Wrasse to large Spanish Macks and everything in between. It was all catch and release for a scientific study I was helping with, so we needed to keep the fish as healthy as possible, meaning we needed to get them in the boat as quick as possible and try to avoid getting sharked. That translates to tight drags and lots of pressure on gear. I paired the Tesoro with a MH Ocea Full Throttle Plugger rod for throwing stick baits, jigs, and other fast retrieve or lighter finesse lures and probably caught 75% of my fish with that setup. So in 6 days the Tesoro probably landed over 40 fish of significant size and weight. I appreciated everything about the reel. Very smooth retrieve as well as drag, feels as solid as the Makaira, and the perfect retrieve ratio for working faster baits/jigs while still giving you some edge on horsing bigger fish. It is definitely a little heavier than it's Shimano counterpart (Twin Power), but honestly feels a lot more solid in every way and comes in a couple hundred dollars cheaper. The price point and weight is closer to the Saragosa, but the build quality and drag of the Tesoro feel far superior to the Saragosa. We didn't wash down reels over the week and it caught a lot of salt spray, but still looks and feels like new. It seems to be really well sealed and came with lots of grease in all the right places, so I think it'll last. Only time will tell, though, but for a mid-level spinning reel at a mid-level price point, I think it's a great option. If you want to see the reel in action checkout my IG at HawaiiReefFishing.
