The new replacement to the original Sunline System Leader is finally out and available, it brings a few key improvements and updates that make it more usable. The material has been tweaked to provide a bit more abrasion resistance and knot strength, this makes the surface a bit harder which is great when tying knots with rougher braid that can cut into a leader. The spools have been simplified to a single length option that is dependent on the line test, the 12-50lb lines come in 50 meter spools and the 60-100lb tests come in 30 meters spools which is plenty for any leader applications. They have improved their spooling technology to give you perfect line lay which keeps the fluoro from kinking or being damaged, along with that every spool comes with a stretchy line keeper that makes it easier to take a few feet off without ending up with a bundled mess.
As always with the saltwater Sunline products, they feature conservative breaking strength despite their thin diameters. This makes it a great line to use for our style of sportfishing. The cost hasn’t increased on most of the line tests so it is still a high quality competitively priced product.
