Tungsten jigs from JYG Pro and Major Craft have arrived just in time for the bluefin bite, they have been working exceptionally well compared to lead jigs and many boats are recommending people not leave the dock without them. We also received some new and restocked rods from Ripple Fisher and Yamaga Blanks in Japan, a variety of heavier offshore casting, jigging and even inshore light duty rods. The Makaira 15T Gold's are almost out of stock, so if you're looking to pick one up there may only be a day or two left.

Daiwa and Okuma have announced their upcoming price increases in response to tariffs, they will be going into effect mid May and official minimum advertised prices will increase June 1st. Daiwa has increased prices anywhere from 0% for Japanese made product (despite them being affected by a 10% tariff already) all the way up about 20% on certain rods and lures. Okuma has kept changes between 5% and 15%, with the Taiwanese made reels having the lowest increases. We are expecting more to follow from other manufacturers but if you're in the market for reels or rods from either manufacturer I would move on them sooner than later.

There's been some uncertainty between customers and manufacturers alike with the upcoming tariff changes. Because of how sudden the changes have been it's hard for manufacturers to nail down prices that will keep them in business without making the price of gear skyrocket, we definitely expect price increases across the board while they absorb as much of the tariffs as they can. If you're in the market for new gear I would recommend getting it before prices go up, or waiting on prices to eventually come down in the future whether that's later this year or in several years time. Prices of fishing gear made in the US will also likely increase towards the end of the year since things like aluminum, carbon fiber, fiberglass and rod components are often imported from affected countries. We'll do our best to maintain low prices, and continue providing big discount deals when opportunities come up as we've done with Okuma Tesoro's, Daiwa Sea Power 800's and various Avet Classic and G2 models.
