Delivery & Shipping

Do you offer free shipping?

We offer free domestic shipping on most orders over $150 subtotal. This excludes oversized and bulky items such as rods, blanks, gaffs, some tackle boxes, lobster nets, landing nets and other large items. Any 1 piece rod over 7'10" in length often incurs the biggest oversize fees charged by domestic shipping companies although we do have lower rates via other carriers on the West Coast. Any additional shipping fees will be automatically calculated at checkout before any billing is done.

What countries do you ship to?

We currently ship products within the US and to almost every country in the world, covering all available destination via UPS and DHL. International shipping times depend on the products and destination. Shipping rates are automatically calculated at checkout, for most countries we also collect Duties and Taxes and prepay them so you do not have to deal with the carrier or customs.

How long will it take to get my order?

Standard shipping can take 3-8 business days depending on location and order volume. If you have requested spooling on your reel or rigging on your lures then it could take an additional day or two. Next day & 2 day shipping is available on most domestic orders (for an additional charge). Orders placed after 12pm Pacific Standard Time will be processed the next business day.

What carriers do you ship with?

We work with UPS, FedEx, US Postal Service, GLS and DHL. When your order qualifies for free shipping or has a rod that qualifies for discounted shipping we reserve the right to choose which carrier it is sent with, otherwise you can pick the service you want. UPS Ground ranges from 1 to 7 day delivery, USPS Priority Mail is typically 1-3 days but is not a guaranteed express service, and USPS Ground Advantage takes roughly 3-7 business days. Longer rods are generally sent via GLS unless otherwise specified, this service ranges from 1 - 10 days.

Prop 65 Warning ⚠
  • Reliable light surface irons
  • Great for surface yellowtail, seabass & tuna
  • Larger iron for 30-40lb leaders offset hips for a slower kick
  • 3.5 oz & 6.5 inches long, perfect for topwater
  • Made in the USA

This is one of the newer designs from Salas. Similar in size to a Tady 45, and with a swimming action that takes very little practice or skill. It’s deadly for all gamefish, yellowtail, barracuda and striped bass. This is one lure that should work it’s way to the East Coast, like the 544 jigs for guys targeting larger grade stripers.

Over the past decade, we’ve been requested to stock this West Coast staple, a multi-generation producer of effective “iron” in the West Coast tradition. Salas invented, perfected several shapes of jigs that are classics, and they can be found in the tackle boxes of any experienced fisherman out here in California. Let’s just say, Salas is a basic part of our fishing culture here and a product line that is universally recommended by the long range fleet, just as Tady Jigs are well supported within the community. (Pictured right, Salas 7, 6X and 6X Jr. – left to right). Salas and Tady are the standards out here in SoCal, and I doubt you’ll find any saltwater fisherman who does not own at least 20 jigs from each of these two firms. We own ’em and we fish ’em…often. While these have been West Coast standards, I have clients on the East Coast who also make great use of these lures. For a few of our charter guys, these are their “secret” weapons for when the fishing gets tough. The surface lures do great things on stripers, and no doubt the big iron in white will produce tuna for you just like they do for us. Amberjacks? Well if our yellowtail eat ’em like candy you can assume their cousins will too…and they do.

Salas makes a wide range of “iron” but they are most commonly associated with our “heavy iron.” (The 7 being the exception). Their products are all hand made, hand painted, typically sand cast, and very effective lures for yellowtail and many other species of fish. You could say that they’re the definitive heavy iron. Salas and Tady are the standards, and in all honesty I don’t think you’ll find a SoCal angler that doesn’t own at least 20 of each manufacturers iron…and we fish ’em. often..

One point I should mention, please do understand clearly that these jigs are not being made in China as many others are (Tady, Sumo…). These are hand made here by Matt Salas.  Do not expect perfection on the paint job or the rings. They are made to catch fish, not look pretty. The cosmetics are secondary, their effectiveness is legendary.- Mark

Great jigs

I've got lots of Salas jigs, but none in this size, and on my last 8 day this jig was the only thing the Wahoo wanted, so thought I'd get a couple.
