 Calstar
Fishing Rods
(From
$124-$400+): Calstar is considered by many long range enthusiasts to be
manufacturer of the finest serious offshore blanks and rods in the
world. They are certainly the most successful manufacturer in terms of
bringing in the big fish. For example, the San Diego Sportfishing
Council reported recently that for tuna 200 pounds or more 109 fish were
taken on Calstar rods, 38 on all other manufacturer's products combined
(the majority of the minority were Seeker rods). This pattern has
held for the past few years, with Calstar being preferred for big fish
on long range style trips. Calstar is well regarded, for good
reason.

Grafighter Series
- Combining both graphite and E-Glass construction from tip to
butt, the Grafighters are light and strong. Their fast

 Seeker
Fishing Rods
(From
$100-$400+): Seeker provides sportsmen a wide range of high quality,
proven designs. Like Calstar, Seeker has a long history
producing rods on the West Coast. Their action is overall a bit
lighter than the Calstar rods, that's about the only comparison I'd
make, they are both excellent products. For instance, a Seeker
rod rated 30-80 loads up best at 40-50# while the same Calstar model
will load up better 50-60. The tip is a bit lighter in many
cases. Seeker builds a great rod, with excellent fishing
qualities appreciated by both long range enthusiasts and private
boaters..
