 Here's
another new CharkBait exclusive. We asked the folks from Avet to
make us a special colored reel. They have never made a red reel,
and with the popularity of the new Newells in red, our long history
with Accurate's components in red, we just knew our clients would be
quite interested. The color of red used was really important to
us, we didn't want a orange/red reel. We wanted a deep metallic
candy apple red, we knew exactly. We had something in our shop
that was exactly the shade we wanted produced. So, we sent Avet
the color and they sent us back a note say how many hundred reels we'd
have to buy in order to get them to make 'em up for us.... Well,
we all really liked the new color, figured you would too. So, we
bit the bullet and had them make 'em up. After all, we needed
something really trick for the Long Beach Fred Hall Show in early
March, right?
 Of course the specs are just the same as their regular models.
The only difference lies in the finish. They are type two
anodized, just like the other Avet reels, so they'll stand up to harsh
saltwater conditions and look terrific for years to come. A
little maintenance and use of a quality reel cover and you'll have a
reel that will fish a lifetime.

the past year we've had some requests from our clients to secure their
most popular reels in a different color scheme than silver, gold or
blue. Well, we kept a tally of the requests, and asked the
manufacturer to make up a bunch for us.
PURPLE!
Yep, bright purple anodized aluminum, it looks unique, will certainly
draw some attention on any boat. They really do look terrific as
the picture proves. The reels are drop
dead gorgeous. There won't be many available, and they're sure to
disappear quickly. So, jump on 'em now while we've got a good
assortment to offer.

blue and gold. But, this was not a high seller at the time. So, they
stopped stocking that color. Still, some folks like black, it's a good
finish and matches up well with a lot of rods. It's also a very
durable finish.

We just received a new color of Avet reels! The new color is a gunmetal gray - very nice looking
reel. We have that color only in a few select models.

Back in April '04 we took a little field trip
to Avet...
 Here's the raw aluminum stock. From these solid long aluminum
"pipes" the metal is cut
using CNC machines. Avet has about 35 of 'em, including a new
one they just invented that will be used in the construction
business for cutting custom marble. They've got a big place,
efficiently run operation. Expect a lot of good things from these
guys, heck they're already accomplishing 'em. |

Avet is owned
by two brothers, working with their wives and a dozen other folks at
their factory in the San Fernando Valley. The guys have lived in this
country for 14 years or so. They came here from Armenia, named
their business after their father who was a shoe maker in the old
country. The guys have accomplished a lot in their time in
America. Their industriousness has built an amazingly
prosperous business. They own their CNC machines, these
multi-hundred thousand dollar machines are not leased, they're
owned. They're efficient and they are talented. With
these attributes, they have the ability to produce an innovative
product at a price that's very difficult to compete with by a more
traditional machining firm. Expect to see even more from these
guys in the future.

Notable Catches Using Avet Reels Purchased From

 Hey
Guy’s, just thought you would like to see a
Bluefin Tuna I caught 10/30/03. The boat was the Atlantis
Princess out of Atlantic Highlands New Jersey. We were fishing
the east wall of the Hudson Canyon. It took about an hour to subdue
this bad boy, from an anchored Party Boat.
the
fish almost spooled me on his first run, but I put the hammer down
and was able
to
turn the fish, it took me around the boat 3 times before it finally
settled in for 45 min.

to make things worse I had threaded the line through the tip the
wrong way, but
the
tip was smooth and flexible enough to keep the line from
fraying. The reel of course, was the reel I bought from you.
