Mend-it!

Here's a great product we just came across. If you fish plastics, soft swimbaits, you'll absolutely love this stuff. In the past, some folks have tried using super glue or a match to deal with tears and breaks in soft plastic baits. If you fish a lot of plastics, you know that the cost can add up with torn lures, lures that have been bitten... The problem is that the other methods of fixing these lures either does not work or it causes problems of their own. Super glue works up to a point, but it's not perfect. Add to that that the stuff also bonds to your fingers, gets hard, and makes a horrible mess on a boat when some bozo steps on the container and gets it all over the boat. The Mend-it won't stick to your skin, clothing, boat or carpet so it can confidently be used whenever and wherever you need it. Mend-it is a "non-glue" which binds soft plastic bait together by chemically "melting" them, creating a catalyzing action between the pieces of plastic treated with Mend-it. It dries clear, soft and strong leaving the mended bait as good as new. The picture shows a plastic bait that was mended with this unique product. It's the best product we've seen for dealing with this issue, and it's American made. Pricing for a 1 ounce bottle is only $12.

Another popular item for folks using soft plastic swimbaits is Zap-a-Gap. This product works well when rigging your lure on a leadhead. Apply a little on the base of the hook and where the lure comes in contact with the leadhead. Give it a couple minutes to dry, and you'll find that the lure will hold onto the hook better, be less prone to shift position and likely last longer.

BLAM!

For the past couple years we've been hounded by some of our local plastics fishermen to carry the Blam swimbaits. These things have a great action on the drop, and on the retrieve. Their curly tail really swims well, and their fins provide a natural appearance. The local sandbass and calico bass love 'em. They gobble 'em with gusto! We've noticed many of our local competitors selling these things at 59 cents a pop. That's not our style. If we make a good score, we pass it along to our clients. Kustom Kraft Swimbaits

Kustom Kraft has been making baits for us for several years. They've expanded what they offer and are doing some very unique things these days. Their swimbaits have become so much better that we've stopped having them make our economy baits, the new Pro Series from them are simply a better bait and a different style of lure than anything else we've come across. The material is stronger, while still having a lifelike quality when retrieved. They are meatier, too. They are much thicker than our old baits, thicker than Big Hammer or Fish Trap lures. Kustom Kraft

These guys are doing some interesting things. The predecessors of this company made our swimbaits for many years. They make good stuff, quality & value. The original owners moved out of California, and pretty much lost touch with saltwater. The firm sold. The new owner is based here in California. The production has improved, and they're designing and producing some very unique baits. The old owner made a sand-dab, baby halibut lure that was well liked by folks going after ling cod or other bottom oriented fish. We never could get enough of these to supply on-line, so they were a store-only offering. We are closing out our remaining stock of the old flattie lure. (see Clearance). The new owner improved the lure, designed a great new jig for the lure making them easier for us to fish 'em, the new owner turned a good idea into a great one. The new Kustom Kraft Sand-dab and Halibut mimicking lures have been getting a lot of attention from fishermen and fish alike. Western Outdoor News had an article about 'em a couple weeks ago. For guys fishing in-shore, targeting bottom dwelling fish including halibut, ling cod, and other predators, this new lure might be a lure you want to put some time in fishing.

The smaller Sand-dab measures over 4" in body, plus another inch for the jig head. The larger Halibut measures about 6" in body, add another 1 1/2" for the custom jig. These are meaty baits, with a high quality tail that can hold up to some use. In each box you get two lures and one jig-head - one lure rigged, the other a back-up tail. Beautifully crafted and super sharp jig-head is unique.

Fishing deeper water or selectively looking for larger fish? There's one sure way to cull the small ones by simply targeting the big ones. Use a larger bait. These lures are big.
We've commissioned some bigger lures you might want to try on the fish lurking in your deeper waters. We're now pleased to offer a REALLY LARGE mojo style twin tail lure that looks like what you'd expect down deep. This huge lure probably equals the weight of a half dozen 6" mojos (shown for comparison in the image above)! This is a big and very meaty lure. Slugs and Eels
Our friends at Kustom Kraft have produced an excellent eal lure, also referred to as a slug. These are long lures in both a 7 1/2 and nine 9 3/4 inch length. The lures are segmented, so you can custom the length as needed. They feature a slit which lends itself to hook hiding or weedless rigging. Between the segments and slit, you can also stash some scent nicely. Eels can be worked along the bottom, or fished snakelike mid-depth. But, the best way to fish 'em is on top of the kelp. Calico love them presented above on the kelp, and they'll hammer 'em hard, as will other fish including white seabass. The lures work well on the drop, too. So, here's another interesting new lure that may wake up some slow to feed fish with a natural forage imitation.
