P-line has become a premier supplier of offshore fishing line, tools and now lures.  These folks listen to fishermen, and produce things fishermen appreciate.  Their line has become a "got to have" product for inshore and offshore fishermen over the past couple years, for good reason.  These new lures will also gain a very solid following based on their success they'll most definitely earn this year.  Like about everything made by Pline,  these new lures aren't inexpensive.  They are pricey, but they are also about the nicest things you can take along on a tuna trip. In that sense, they're an inexpensive and productive value.

If you are planning a tuna trip this season out of San Diego, take along a couple of these lures.  Instead of hanging around the bait tank, waiting for a troll fish so you can drop back a bait, just tie one of these on your line and kick-back.  When the troll fish goes off, bypass the bait tank and cast or drop-back this lure.  Let it get back to the distance of the troll fish.  Allow it to freespool it's way down and back.  You want to be well under the troll fish.  Now start bringing in your line.  Chances are quite good you'll be hooked up, fishing the slide.

Like the MegaBait Live Jigs, these new Tide Minnows from PLine are excellent for use as a drop-back lure.  Fish them on the slide and you'll soon appreciate why they will become a strong favorite this season.  They'll also do you well as a cast and retrieve lure.  The Tide Minnows weigh 2 ounces and are 4 inches in length.  They'll cast very, very well and will work well with line from 15-40# test.  This new lure looks like a sure winner.

- Well, the results from the 2002 season are in, and the Tide Minnow lived up to expectation well.  It was a real producer for albacore tuna, dorado and yellowtail.

New P-Line Diamond Jigs!

Diamond jigs work, for a variety of gamefish. Finding a good diamond jig is not always an easy thing however. The folks at P-Line have finally brought out a lure that was about 2 years in producing. I don't know why it took 'em so darn long, but I do know we've been talking about 'em for a much longer time that you'd think. They really are a pretty simple lure to fish, and they are productive. P-Line did add a new wrinkle to the old standby design. P-Line's lure designers  used the time well, arriving at a uniquely finished lure that stands out from your basic Diamond Jig. As the picture shows, they are not your basic chrome dipped lure.The new lures feature a holographic finish that should prove long lived, and catch the eye of a hungry fish.

For 2003 PLine introduced another excellent lure, and a nice value as well.  Their new Predator Broken Back Minnow is a deep diving lure.  It can be used as a cast and retrieve bait, or trolled.  When trolled with 100 feet of 15# line, the lure will run between 11 and 13 feet of depth.  The lure is injection-molded, with VMC treble hooks.  It has a one-piece wire running through the body, and is built to stand up to the mightiest of gamefish.  The lure also has two rattle chambers to give off the optimum vibration to attract fish under any conditions.  Predator Minnows are about seven inches in length, a perfect sized morsel for most coastal gamefish.  Private boaters will love this lure, as will barracuda and other predatory fish.

P-Line's New Tuna Ripper,
Tuna Rocker & Tuna Roller!

Here's an exciting new product from P-Line.  P-Line is a broad based fishing products firm.  They've been in the business successfully for a number of years and they've earned a good reputation for coming to market with a good product and fair value.  I think these new lures offer everything we've come to expect from P-Line.  They've introduced an extensive line of tuna lures.  They now offer a "tuna clone" lure similar to Sevenstrand's classic.  We'll show those off next week. This week we're introducing their most innovative new tuna lure, the one you don't have in your tackle box.  The new lures feature three excellent head designs, made from machine cut brass, plated with excellent colors to match the ultra supple skirt combinations.

There are three new lures from P-Line.  The Tuna Rocker is a flat head pusher design.  It will run straight and true and chug along well in sloppy conditions.  The Tuna Roller features a swimmer shaped head for a more erratic swimming action.  On a quicker troll the lure will pop right out of the water or veer off to the side for added fish attracting action.  This is a great tool for the private boater, but some staggering of lines would be suggested on a long range style stern.  The Tuna Ripper is a jet head design featuring five ports that allow water to run through the bait.  Rippers will produce a lot of "smoke" (bubble trail).  Their straight head will also have them running true in a spread.  The lures measure approximately six inches.

P-Line's New Pulse Raiser!

The Pulse Raiser from P-Line offers a nice twist to a familiar theme in lure design. Striped bass fishermen know this design well, and P-Line's staff made some nice updates to the old Bomber lure. The Pulse-Raiser offers a very nice slant head that's laser finished for a very realistic look, big beady eyes and quality saltwater hook. They incorporate a natural bucktail skirt and holographic mylar wings for added flash there's also some additional mylar running along the sides of the lure trailing along the soft plastic swimming tail. As always, you can count on the P-Line folks to bring innovative high quality products to market - products that catch fish.

This style lure is very popular with the striper folk, but should also be something you invest some time with if you're targeting bass. The jig head provides some weight for longer casts, is realistic in appearance, and the curled tail offers added attraction to the bucktail. The lure fishes well on a slow retrieve, or bounced along the bottom.

New from P-Line
Sunrise Squids!

I do enjoy calimari, and most every fish does too. The folks from PLine have come out with some very nice squid imitations. They are a bit different than many that have been marketed. First off, they should last longer. They are made from a more rugged plastic, a bit thicker and stronger. They are a hollow body squirt, with enough room on the larger sizes to insert a torpedo or egg sinker. They're very similar to Ballyhood's Soft Iron squid, and priced low enough that you can make that style of lure yourself for about half the money as buying one from them or us pre-rigged. They are offered in several very nice flavors. The lures all carry the same low price, with different sizes offering different quantities per pack. The small 3.5 inch squid comes five per pack, the 4.5" model is offered 3/pack, and the large 7 inch'r is sold one per pack.

Going rockfishing? Perhaps looking for a lingcod? Well, the folks at P-Line made some nice double rigs using the squids above that will catch the interest of bottom fish, and put 'em on a table where they belong. The lures are double rigged on fairly heavy line (about 80#), in a Rock Cod size 3.5" and Ling Cod 4.5" version.  The lures are a dandy value, just add the appropriate amount of lead to put 'em on the bottom and hang on to your rod. They proved themselves last year, available only at our shop. This year we expect to see some great results on the East Coast. Give 'em a try!
