Rapala Trolling and Casting Lures

New from Rapala - XRAP Magnums and Jointed Minnows

The newest additions from Rapala offer features we've all wanted, like deeper diving capability, no tuning required for better trolling consistency, deeper dives and enhanced finishes. The new X-Raps offer all that plus a built in rattle! They'll dive up to 30 feet. The large diving lip offers great stability at high speeds without rolling. The new finish is beautifully realistic, with a translucent characteristic, flash, and excellent attention to detail. These European manufactured lures are very high quality, well beyond the stuff coming from China in terms of overall long-lasting quality. The hooks are also very appropriate for what you can expect to catch on these baits. The 30 size measures nine inches from lip to butt, and seven inches from nose to butt. Rapala has also added two more sizes, a Mag 20 and 15 at ~7 3/4" & ~6 1/2" respectively. The smaller sized lures will dive to 20 and 15 feet (respectively Mag 20/15). They are a versatile design, and very effective fish catchers. We think they're the nicest looking lures on the market. You'll be just as impressed once you have 'em in your hands and examine them closely.

X-RAP XJS13 Jointed Shad
Here's another very intriguing new lure series from Rapala. These guys are really introducing a lot of nifty new lures for 2006. The X-Rap Jointed Shad has Xtreme hard-kicking tail action that triggers the attach instinct in aggressive dominant predators found in both fresh and saltwater. The Articulated tail partners with a high flash prifile and classic Rapala swimming action to incite reaction strikes from otherwise lethargic predatory fish. The new lure is engineered to suspend with a subtle tail movement as the lure comes to rest. The XJS13 is 5 1/4" in length and weighs a heafty 1 5/8 ounce. They are rigged with two #2/0 treble hooks suitable for saltwater. Their running depth is between 4-8' under normal conditions. I really think a lot of the kayak guys are going to like this one. The slow trolling action will work to their advantage.

The Magnum series of lures produce the big fish. While the Rapala product doesn't have the flash of the CharkBait or some of the YoZuri lures, it does have a lifelike high quality finish, and fish catching action. The Rapala is a standard trolling lure and it's also a decent casting lure.  They'll dig deep trolled, and track well within their speed range. 

These lures are very well built. I've picked off big yellowtail with the CD18 and 22, and makos with the CD 26. Threshers will also take the plug, but rig it with cable (same for the makos and wahoo). Tuna will also take the lures, as will bass and barracuda. the purple black is a great tuna lure for albacore, yellowfin and bluefin. To see a comparison of sizes just click on the "Magnum" above.
