The Valiant 500's are a nice all around size, not too wide or too tall so they're easy to palm and use especially given how light they are. These make a great 30-60lb reel depending on your application and excel at live bait, casting 40-100g lures and bottom fishing for bigger grouper or ling cod.
With this size you can get into some light trolling as well, it would be plenty for the typical albacore or dorado.
