That range means it can go out as soon as you start the run to the grounds, not only once the boat slows down to troll. Tormenter says the fish in its own product photo was caught while running offshore at 23 knots with no trolling weight.

Head and skirts

This is the 11 inch, 12 oz model. The head is a highly polished, chrome-plated bullet with a pointed nose, and five jets exit around its circumference. As the lure runs, the jets leave a trail of bubbles behind the head that gives a wahoo or a tuna something to key on. Two bright PVC skirts are tied on behind the head.

Rigged and ready

Every Super Smoker we stock comes rigged in the USA on 7 feet of heavy-duty 450 lb stainless steel cable with a tandem 9/0 stainless steel, double-strength hook set. The cable is there for the toothy fish: a wahoo will cut a mono leader. The two hooks are stiff-rigged, set 180 degrees apart.

It comes out of the package ready to fish, and it is worth a spot in the spread behind a private boat or on a long-range trip south. It is made for wahoo, but it will take other fish too, tuna among them, and Tormenter lists mahi as a target.

Key Features

11 inch, 12 oz chrome-plated jet head lure

Five jets around a pointed bullet nose leave a bubble trail

Two tied-on PVC skirts

Rigged in the USA on 7 ft of 450 lb stainless steel cable

Tandem 9/0 stainless double-strength hooks, stiff-rigged 180 degrees apart

Rated by Tormenter from 5 to 24 knots

Colors: Black/Orange, Mean Joe Green, Phantom and Rainbow Barracuda

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0738/0844/5742/files/tormenter-super-smoker-rigged-orange-black.webp?v=1792016009
