The articles in this section are written by
visitors of CharkBait, folks with some information to share. Topics include
suggestions for targeting specific species, techniques, recipes, maintenance, boat
projects, trips to far away destinations.... We also have many videos
posted, how to's about Spectra rigging, use of rigging needles, common
knots, etc. Proving experience really is the best
teacher, it's hoped that sharing these experiences are of aid to others. If you have
some smarts to share please consider offering your own contribution to the
Journal. You don't have to be the world's most polished writer (I prove that all the
time). But, you do have to offer something folks can use. Be the first on
your block (dock?) to make this list... Besides the joy of helping others, you'll
also get your very own free CharkBait hat or tee-shirt. Send an
email for info.

This section was the beginning of
CharkBait. Through it we became noticed, and recognized throughout
Southern California as a worthwhile web destination for folks trying to
catch up on what's happening offshore. Thanks to the L.A. Times and
Huntington Beach Independent articles about us, we expanded our viewership
considerably. We were one of the three earliest Internet destinations for
fishing information on the West Coast. Chark's Report posted weekly
fishing trips and other less relevant rants. Well, that was 10-15 years
back, and life has changed a bit. While this was the basis for beginning
CharkBait, time demands and a shift of focus (given new wife and baby)
this section of our site really has not benefited from updating. So, I
have to admit, there's nothing new here, and the information that's still
up is woefully out of date. This section of the website is suffering a bit from neglect,
the boat's not getting used as much as in years past, and sadly my hours
on the water are more limited. Call it the reality of now having a
wife, family time taking precedence for the time being. However, there's
still good stuff within these pages for local So Cal boaters.
