We
are expanding our selection of custom rods this year. We have some
exciting pieces for your perusal. We have both locally wrapped rods,
factory wrapped to our design.
Our newest series of
rods are our Jigging Specialty pieces, Ahi Assassin Rods. I am a
Calstar and Seeker sort of guy, I prefer USA made rods, no question
about that bias. But, I'm also a realist, and when it comes to jigging
quite honestly the USA firms were slow to produce a high quality
piece, in my estimation. That category of rod does indeed demand some
different action than we use for bait or lure fishing. We are working
with a New Zealand owned firm with their own plant in China to produce
our Ahi Assassin jigging rods. These are not a cheap Chinese rod, made
to hit a price point. These are world class rods and we are indeed
fortunate to have made contact with the owners of this firm to bring
us the best dedicated jigging rods on the market. Big statement, but
once you feel the rods you'll understand that it's not an idle boast.
We are one of the few
dealers chosen to represent United Composite, formerly known as
Graphite USA. We offer their blanks as well as custom built rods.
These are built here in Huntington Beach, CA. The new owners of the
firm are Australian, but they are keeping the production here in the
USA.
This year we are having
Seeker build some of their more innovative rods such as the 1x3, 3x5,
2x4, 6470 and 6470H, our way - adding some things we deem important.
Unlike some who offer "private label" Seeker rods, ours are not a step
down product, the CharkBait designed Seekers are a considerable step
up. Seekers are produced in Long Beach, CA. We also build some
specialty Calstar Rods, making great use of their most innovative
blanks like the 770 series rods. We also commission Calstar to build
some heavier spinning rods for us.
For specific
applications, we also have some rather unique "shorty" rods produced
using USA made Fiberglass blanks made by Seeker.
We also boast the
largest range of saltwater travel rods in the business. We now have 13
models covering applications from 12# up to 80#. Our designs are
unique, provide excellent performance are we back them with a 1 year's
warranty against manufacturer's defect and we offer a liberal
replacement policy to help insure against damage you may encounter
through hard use and transport. We have these rods produced overseas,
and we provide oversight in the production design, materials, visit
the two factories regularly.
