NEW PRODUCT
CharkBait -
Chaffing Springs
Chaffing
springs are a very useful item, they help
prevent line damage when your leader or other
line comes in contact with metal. It reduces the
chance of a break-off, simplifies rigging, and
is a basic necessity when rigging up trolling
lures or fishing heavier lines with bait for
larger grade fish. If you are rigging up some
lures, you need 'em. And, if you are heading out
on a long range trip targeting the BIG TUNA,
you'll absolutely need some for use securing
your hooks to your line/leader. A crimp
connection will prove far less bulky and
restrictive than use of the typical heavy San
Diego knot for rigging a hook bait. They have
become a basic long range rigging necessity.
Over the past several years they've become more
and more hard to find. Sevenstrand used to offer
'em, then when they were purchased by Pure
Fishing the product disappeared. That left us
with the old, bulky, plastic type springs which
were a bit of overkill in terms of size and not
as nice to work with. Our springs are made from
stainless steel, for long term durability.
Frankly, I will use these over and over, have
some in my long range bag that I've used for
years now. We sell these 10/pack at $1.99.

Here's
a new product, with a twist! The New
InvisaSwivels were introduced in 2010 and we're
please to introduce them to our clients.
These innovative swivels are clear, very clear,
transparently clear, made from a copolymer
material (based upon Fluorocarbon technology).
This stealthy design is invisible in water,
unlike conventional metal swivels, so fish can't
see the InvisaSwivel and shy away from your
line!

At
present there are four sizes of these trick
swivels, with some larger ones coming in the
future as well as 3-way swivels. Each pack
provides five swivels, in 12#, 25#, 35# and 55#
sizes. In the near future we'll have 80#-200#
sizes available. The InvisaSwivel is virtually
indestructible. They will not break like an
ordinary metal swivel. You can take the 55 pound
swivel and tie 80# line onto either end and tug
for all your worth. We did, the darn thing did
not break. The swivels are almost invisible in
water. They don't reflect light or shine - the
manufacturer refers to this a Fluoro-Clear
invisibility, for good reason. The swivel has
neutral buoyancy. It's made from an industrial
resin compound that will perform at a very slow
sink rate. Therefore the swivel will not tug on
the line at all. Rig these in a Carolina rig,
you'll note that your presentation will be a lot
more natural. For rigging your leader to
straight Spectra or braid you can get by with
simply tying an improved clinch knot!

SeaStriker
SeaStriker has been around a long time,
making a wide range of products from rigging
supplies to cedar plugs. Some of the rigging
products fit right into what we like to use,
and offer some benefits verses other similar
products, and these are prime examples of
that point.

From
the same firm that brought us the
InvisaSwivel, comes Knot2Kinky
Nickel-Titanium wire. Here's a wire with a
unique twist, it stretches, yes the stuff
actually stretches up to 10% of it's
length, and even more surprisingly it
bounces back to the original size with no
degradation in test. You do not have to
crimp this wire, you can tie it! It's a
unique product, and a good one.

TYGER Leader
Tie-able
Stainless Steel Leader!
Here's
a product we're very pleased to introduce to our clients.
TyGer leader is a unique product, folks working with wire leader
will be impressed by it's limpness. The leader is
multi-stranded, it's a micro braided stainless steel of 49 strands
(or greater) leader. The micro-braided line is covered in a nylon
coating, making it the softest, most flexible feeling steel you'll
ever touch or fish with! Because of it's flexibility both live and
artificial baits will swim more naturally. It's extremely flexible
AND strong. Because of it's flexibility it casts well, but
more importantly you can tie knots with it! You can even
"fuse" it with no knot for an even simpler connection.
Because of it's flexibility
you'll find yourself using it more often than you've previously
used wire products. You'll have no more cut-offs from
structure hazards or bite-offs from toothy fish. It's perfect for
use with a wide variety of fish, from taron, sturgeon, sailfish,
marlin, grouper, swordfish and sharks. We can obtain 2, 5, 10 and
15# varients of this line, but only brought in the more popular
tests at this point. If you would like the lighter stuff,
just send us an email. Given the thin diameter, 30# seemed just
fine for the lighter applictions in my mind. Try it, tie it, I
think you'll really like it! Frankly, I've seen nothing like
it...it's unique AND it works!!!
|
You can tie the TyGer leader
directly to your bait, hook or to your line by using the
same favorite knot you've always used. You can tie
any of these knots: Uni, Palomar, Spider, Rapala,
Riffling Hitch, Simplified Blood, Improved Blood,
Dropper Snell, Improved Clinch, Double Improved Clinch,
Albright, Surgeon, Over-hand, Trilene...
You can also simply fuse the
line by making a twist and gently holding a lighter or
match near the twisted leader for a very few seconds.
It's an amazing product, and really simplifies and
speeds up the time it takes to get "wired and ready." |

Rigging Beads
|
Charp
Colors!
Over the course of a fishing season there are seemingly always things
that run into short supply. No matter how we try. A couple
years ago I ran into a wall on beads. Told myself it wasn't
going to happen again last season. So, I bought a veritable
plethora of tri-beads. Got some great colors too (wish the
picture showed off the brown and pink better...). If you're
resigned to believing the season's over, or if you're from the
Southern Hemisphere and are just getting set for your season, now is a
very good time to take advantage of our overstock. Buy a few
bags and get rigging.
Beads come in 100
packs / color.

Colors below are in the same order as the picture
above.

Sampo
|
Sampo is the
only American made ball-bearing swivel on the market. I think they
are the
best.
Most of the products you'll encounter are made overseas, Korea and Japan
being the suppliers for several US distributed brands. The
offshore manufactured quality is not nearly as good as the Sampo product
offers. I've never had one fail on me, I can't say that about
those from other manufacturers... These are all tournament grade,
premium quality products. They are rugged, and do the job they were
intended. There are less expensive options out there but they just
aren't as good. Testifying to the Sampo quality, we had an order from
NASA in 1991 for well over $1000 worth of snap swivels. The
product's quality is fit for the most demanding rocket scientists in the
world. It's good enough for you too.
Sampo products are not cheap.
But they are the finest and most reliable. Most of the offerings
below are packed 12 per pack. If you need a smaller number we
can break the packs down for you. If you're a serious offshore
angler, you know the value of having good terminal equipment. I
don't think there's a good substitute for Sampo when it comes to snaps
and swivels. The economy is questionable, the long term quality
is not.
QuickRig
The folks at QuickRig have
some neat stuff, as you've noticed further up the page with their
offset hook rigs. They also make a couple very nice series of
snap swivels. They all feature ball bearings, are made in
Japan (not China...). They run a wide range of sizes to fit
most applications. They make both a tournament style rig and
also a corkscrew connector. Both are very well constructed,
and reliable.

QuickRig Sea Buoy Pro
Series Swivels
Here's a nice addition
from the Quick Rig folks. The Sea Buoy Pro Swivels are a
premium quality ball bearing swivel featuring excellent
construction and superb performance. They are available from
330# - 640# strength and 7mm-10.5mm size.
Sea
Buoy Swivels
Quality ball bearing
swivels from QuickRig, superb quality and afordability. The
same wonderful swivels as are used on the snap/swivels and
chunk hooks are available in packs of ten. These swivels
compete with Sampo but have a nicer finish and are much more
afordable. They are made in Japan, and are a quality product
(not China production). The new swivels are available in
several different sizes, from 100# on up to 450! 10/pack
QuickRig
Power Swivels
Here's
another neat new product from QuickRig. They're becoming
increasingly well known for their ringed circle hooks and snap swivels
and corkscrew style snap/swivels. Here's a new twist (so to speak)
in swivels. You may have seen something similar from another firm,
very small swivels with incredible strength that give you half the
quantity for the same or higher price. QuickRig is an aggressive
company, making great products and offering them for a very fair price.
In this case, they've simply got the best product for the best price.
A
lot of folks will use these super small swivels for rigging their
fluorocarbon leader. Some will use them for connecting mono or
fluorocarbon leader to Spectra. They're so small they'll flow through
your rod guides easily. They're super small, super strong, and because they've got QuickRig's name on 'em they're also the best value on the market for
this type of item. All the packs are priced at $2.58, and all come
10 per pack! Great product, excellent price! If you're
trying to find some high quality swivels for your rigging needs, well,
you've accomplished your mission.

Welded Rings
In
September '07 we begged the folks from QuickRig to make up some welded
rings for us. Many guys like to use the rings for making up 'hoo bait
rigs, connecting mono to fluorocarbon, and several other applications.
In the long range application welded rings are an essential accessory,
but there are few quality one's made. The ones made with a bright chrome
finish are definitely NOT what's required for fishing wahoo. QuickRig's
welded rings, as used on their swivels looked to be a perfect match to
our requirements. So, the folks imported rings for us, and we're quite
pleased to be able to bring them to our clients as a CharkBait
exclusive.

P-Line |
P-line
recently introduced some high quality, high value swivels and
snaps. Consistent with the quality P-Line has become well known for,
these metal gems will soon become regular members of your tackle
box. They have a wide range of sizes, with some unique small
swivels that will end up replacing rings for a lot of user. They're
like jewels. These are imported from Japan, and are very high
in quality. They're a good value given the quality of the
product. The swivels and snap/swivels are conveniently
packaged in small economical packs of several swivels. The quantity
varies by size, from several to a couple in each package.

The Carolina Keeper
|
Here's
a fairly new product, replacing split shot for holding your egg
sinker above the hook, and finding a lot of others uses as well.
Just use your needle nose to squeeze the Carolina Keeper
and a slit opens up for you to insert your line. Adjust the
Keeper, to the desired distance above your hook and you're done. The
sinker will stay up there were you put it. It's easy to use,
gentle on the line, and effective. (The picture shows a keeper
on the line.) Each pack holds several of the Keepers, enough for
many day's fishing, or if you're lucky even less. Guys fishing bait
will find them very useful, better than lead, more secure, darn hard
to see, too. But, there are also other uses like rigging
dropper loops with less chance of breaking your line, hoochies...
You'll find these very useful little gizmos.
