Wahoo Marine Hardware

Here's a new American made supplier of marine hardware, rod holders, rocket launchers and more. These products are as economical as they are useful. These folks produce some unique products, and they've also been kind enough to listen to us about what we felt our clients needed. As an example of their cooperation, since they are an East Coast firm they catered to the needs of their local anglers. The result was that all of their rod holders had an inside diameter of 1 inch. That's great for a uni-butt rod (in higher test application), but it's way off the mark for what we needed for the majority of folks fishing the West Coast where uni-butts are far less often used. Folks often use their stand-up gear for both in the hands fishing or for trolling duty. So, the rod tubes needed to be increased in diameter from 1 1/4" to 1 3/4" inside diameter. We stock both sizes, and suggest that if you don't need the extra width, stay with the smaller tube size, but if you fish more Seeker and Calstar rods, both trolling and casting versions, go with the larger tube size - they'll work for all your rods.

In terms of quality, these rod holders are very well made. They're tig welded, constructed from 60 series aluminum, machined gimbal slots and welded gimbal pins.  Costs are much less than for quality American made stainless steel. I'd say the Precision Marine products are of a much higher quality, but you'll also be paying roughly double the price. So, if you are looking for function as well as economy, go with the Wahoo's, if instead you are seeking the highest quality on the market - then go with the Precision products. For my own boat, I'd run with the Wahoo product with no reservation. They are very well made, they're finished in white marine grade paint and they'll hold up for hard use. Then again, I'm pretty cheap...frugal is a nicer way to put it, and I need to save a few bucks for gas and bait. However, if I was fortunate enough to have that Hetaeras I've fantasized over for the past couple decades...I'd be on the Precisions' like white on rice.

	The Four Tube Broomstick is designed to put as many as 3 lines either port or starboard, PLUS another line from the stern. On a halibut drift, this can be a dandy way to stagger your lines cleanly. 	The Universal Rocket Launcher is a stout four rod rocket launcher, built to handle demanding fish. It's universal design allows for just about any mounting location you can think of. The two out holders shoot away from the center by about 15 degrees, and down approximately 10 degrees. The two inside holders shoot straight back.
