Chark's Maps

bulletMap Tech Views
bulletFish-n-Map Co

These images are from a Fish-n-Map Co. product (Pt. Arguello to Mexico), and Map Tech's great computer navigation software.  Both products are available on the tackle side of CharkBait. For local boaters, Fish-n-Map Co. offers some  great local maps that are pretty much indestructible. Many of their maps also plot out great fishing locations. Their Catalina/Long Beach map includes over 100 lat/lon numbers for fishing spots. Map Tech  provides great map products and software.  For computer users the stuff's great.  You can even run you lap top with a GPS for reel time plotting while on your boat.  For home navigating, recording waypoints, interfacing with your GPS for uploads and downloads of data, the Map Tech product is by far the strongest computer navigation package going.

The reefs are really a series of dumping sites.  Please visit Chark's Spots for the numbers.
HorseshoeKelp.jpg (116497 bytes) Horseshoe Kelp Area - Map Tech product
There are lots of good locations to fish locally.  Listed are just a few of common stops for barracuda and yellowtail.  The deeper location can also be good for rockfish at times.   Please visit Chark's Spots for the numbers.
CatalinaBack.jpg (104045 bytes) Catalina Island Area - Backside - Map Tech product
Catalina is a great destination for sightseers and fishermen. Folks who frequently visit the island have their favorite holes.  Indicated generally on the map are some white seabass, calico bass, barracuda and yellowtail areas.   Please visit Chark's Spots for the numbers.
SanPed1.jpg (121842 bytes)San Pedro/Long Beach Harbor - inside islands - Map Tech product
Fishing inside the breakwater can be a great way to spend a day or night.  This isSanPed2.jpg (113901 bytes) especially the case when conditions are snotty further out.  Night time seems to be a whole new world out there as well, with fish feeding a lot more readily along the wall.  Please take time to visit Dorado Doug's Fishing The Wall article, and Tom Harman's Halibut Hot Spots journal submission.  Tom provides a couple good maps, and some flattie advice.

LocalBanks.jpg (89097 bytes) Local Banks - Map Tech product
At the right time of the year marlin can be found at these areas, which are "doable" from many smaller boats.  These areas are also good for migrations of tuna, dorado, yellowtial under paddies.  Of course, where there's bait there's sharks as well.  Makos are commonly fished on these banks.  These banks can also be good for rockfish at times.  Listed are just a few of our local high spots.   Please visit Chark's Spots for the numbers.

If I make a typo and you wind up in Cucamonga I assume no liabilty. The selected spots are either places I've worked over recently with success or heard about from others. Show respect for others space; it's a big ocean out there.
